A Taste of Haiti

Today I returned from a week-long trip to Haiti . I can’t even begin to articulate what my time at the orphanage and school has meant to me and all that I’ve learned from the kids at Proje Espwa so I’ll just leave you with a couple of photos and a familiar tale for today. Starting tomorrow I’ll share some of the most significant memories from the trip to Les Cayes, Haiti.

A Familiar Tale

A little boy was walking along a beach covered with starfish drying up along the shore. As far as the eye could see there were hundreds of thousands of starfish. The boy reached down and threw one of the star fish back into the ocean. As he continued to walk down the beach throwing fish into the sea, an old man approached.

“What are you doing?” the man said, “There are far too many starfish for you to save them all. It’s not truly making a difference.”

The boy reached down a threw in another starfish. “It did for that one,” he replied.
